Connecting the Workplace through Christ

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Col. 3:23

Want to see how blessed you'll be by attending Christian networking roundtables?

Come make the divine connections God has for you--at Christian Business Network.  We can be God's tools in the marketplace at this critical time!  God has many "divine appointments" for us through CBN.

Sometimes our "divine appointment" is a connection with a Christian businessperson present at the meeting.  Many other times, CBN is the connecting point with "divine appointments" for us in the network of persons in our members' daily walk, linking us to persons who may have never been to CBN.

Who are we?

Christian Business Network is a non-denominational, non-profit forum to facilitate Christian business people working in unity to meet one another so we can develop and grow as Christians in business:
  • From simply existing until the weekend,
  • To working by Biblical principles,
  • To working in the power of the Holy Spirit,
  • To transforming our workplace for Christ.

What is a general overview of Christian Business Network’s goals?

Christian Business Network’s goals include
  • connecting believers through faith in Jesus Christ,
  • strengthening Christian businesses into Kingdom businesses built upon Biblical principles,
  • teaching principles of transforming our world through our work,
  • linking Christians together to pray for their businesses,
  • working together to develop business success through referrals, and
  • helping Christians form Marketplace Coalitions with area ministries.

Scriptures upon which
CBN purposes are Based

To glorify God in our work,
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6 NIV

But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth. Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV

To support Christians in business,
Let the Lord be magnified who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servants.  Psalms 35:27 NASB

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah. 29: 11-13 NIV

To promote marketplace integrity,
A good name is more desirable than great riches. Proverbs 22:1 NIV

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38 NIV

To learn from other Christians,
Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only. James 1:22 KJV

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 NIV

To encourage Godly fervor at work and elsewhere,
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5 NIV

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23 NIV

To build Christian friendships.
...inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.  Matthew 25:40 KJV

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NIV

What happens at a CBN roundtable?

  • At each lunchtime meeting, the first and last 15 minutes provides individual networking time for those on tight schedules.  At breakfast meetingss, the first 30 minutes provides networking time.  We ask for those eating a meal to use part of the networking time to get their meal and get seated before the opening prayer.
  • Each CBN roundtable starts with a prayer.
  • Business cards of members and visitors, and information about area Christian events is passed around to those in attendance.
  • Each member, then each visitor, has a time to introduce him/herself and his/her business and/or ministry.
  • Each attendee then has time to tell what he/she sees God doing in his/her workplace and/or what he/she would like for God to do in his/her workplace.
  • We pray about the praises and requests brought up in the above step.
  • We provide information about at least one resource helpful for marketplace ministry.  At some CBN Team meetings, this includes watching DVD's of marketplace training seminars.
  • We give at least one door prize at each meeting.  Attendees are encouraged to bring door prizes.
  • We assign a monthly prayer partner for any interested attendees.
  • The team directors close each roundtable with a scripture related to CBN purposes, then with a closing prayer.
  • Often, participants remain and network further after the roundtable ends.  We usually schedule use of the room for 30-45 minutes after the meeting ends.

How is Christian Business Network set apart from other networking groups?

Prayer and scripture are integral to what we do.
  • Christian Business Network bases our purposes on scripture.
  • All CBN meetings begin with prayer and end with scripture and prayer.
  • Each month, CBN members can request and be assigned a prayer partner for their business.
  • We teach and encourage members to uphold Biblical principles in our lives and our business dealings. Member applicants sign a statement of faith and a business ethics pledge.
  • Our training emphasizes Biblical business practices and our lives as witness in the workplace.
We are a group that helps promote unity in the Body of Christ.
  • CBN allows you to network and do business with God-centered businesses from many different Christian denominations.
  • We encourage all participants to form Marketplace Coalitions—to find the ministry partnership(s) God has for them. Since CBN offers unlimited visits to non-profit ministries (another feature unique to CBN,) we often have some ministry representatives in attendance.
  • We provide joint networking opportunities for businesses and ministries at our after-hours functions.
